The coach uses a coach? Why yes I do! Why would I hire a coach if I am a coach? Many of the same reasons on why I encourage others to use a coach are why I do. Here you go:
- Accountability – As well as I am in motivating others, it is hard to continually get myself to go
- Teamwork – Group training enhances the workout – others pushing me in a track workout get me to do better
- Schedule – As well as I could create a schedule for others, I am not far enough from myself to be objective
- Motivation – Knowing your coach is right there to give you that little push or that you can get advice
- Perspective – Seeing another way to coach helps me see what I am missing, if anything, in coaching others
- Achievement – Getting my particular goals is why I need the extra help
Everybody has reasons for needing someone to help them. Mine, for running are listed above. Maybe it is time for you to assess what you need with your running. It may be a coach or it may be a team – whatever it is, if you are thinking about getting better, there are people out there that can guide you.
The moral of the post is that the same reasons I give for others to get better as a coach are the same reasons that I use a coach. Self-improvement begins with getting better at all aspects of what you do. Another way to inspire others is to lead the life you are trying to encourage.
Until next time – Trials of Miles,
Coach Nick
*** My coach is in Northern NJ – Hector Matos – he coaches the Leonia Track Club and has brought people to the next level for many many years.
