I’m sure you get your share of running questions from non-runners. Which running question(s) were your funniest and what were your snarky or non-snarky answers to them? 🙂
“Are you crazy?” – This is a common comment I get when people find out I’m a runner. Well, I guess then I am. I like it – it is fun – I run with friends and I feel good with the results.
“I can’t run at all – good for you – how do you do it?” – I always answer this with, “Why not” – There are many answers like breathing, knees, injuries, time, etc, but I believe that I have heard them all. Everyone was a beginner once.
“What about your knees?” – How about them? I have had meniscus surgery, I have had various aches and pains – what can I do? I like what I am doing and I try to give myself enough rest every week and I try to strengthen my legs as much as possible to lengthen the life of my knees. My running story is here at this link: Click here
“It’s too cold / hot – you’re crazy” – It’s never truly the best weather – we do our best and it is too hot or too cold most days…..
“When do you have time?” – If I don’t do it in the morning, it usually does not happen.
“Have you run the NY City Marathon?” – Yes – twice – It was cool the 1st time and way too crowded the 2nd time. I do feel like running it again sometime in the future…..
“Have you run a 5K Marathon?” – A 5K is 3.1 miles and a marathon is 26.2. However people ask that a lot, so very often I need to answer.
“Did you run today?” “How far did you run today?” – Usually the answer is yes, although I have taken more rest days in the past 4 years than in previous years….
“How far is that marathon?” – All marathons are 26.2 miles, although I get asked this question every time I run one – 23 and counting!!
