I had a coach once tell me that if I didn’t lose a toenail while running, I didn’t run enough. Well, it happens to all of us. You run a lot of miles over time and then, just like that, one of your toenails starts darkening, then turns jet black, and then falls off.
Guess what?
Another one has already grown underneath it and you will be fine. And ladies (and I guess some gents), you simply paint over the nail and no one will know the difference.
If it happens too often, make sure that you are sized correctly for your sneakers, as that means you do not have enough space between your toes and the edge of your running shoe. But if it is random, don’t worry about it.
It is much better to worry about getting the correct sneakers at a running store rather than what to do about the nail itself.
The pic attached is of my foot right now…you see 1 nail in stage 1 and 1 nail at the end of it’s days….
Happy Running!

Bonus fact – if your 2nd toe is longer than your Big toe, it is called Morton’s foot – very normal, nothing to worry about….
